John H. Barnes, CFP ®

John knows the first step in protecting clients’ wealth is sharing in their vision. Able to see both the big picture and the fine nuances of a business problem, John is a Certified Financial Planner® who oversees all implementation of financial strategy and ensures regulatory compliance here at Pendleton Street Business Advisors. He primarily works with clients to help them coordinate business goals with personal objectives, and to optimize their investment portfolios so that their money works for them long after they choose to retire.
Since graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, John has held a number of leadership positions in the finance industry. He began his career in 1999 at Wachovia Bank, North America where he was named a vice president. During his eight years tenure, he held several management positions, including a prominent role in a process team that oversaw securities operations with Wachovia Securities, LLC. In May 2007, he joined WHM Capital Advisors, LLC and became chief operating officer. He and partner Matthew Morley founded Pendleton Street Business Advisors in 2013.
Matthew A. Morley, CVA, CEPA

Matt has an eye for numbers, a head for strategy and a keen ability to marry clients’ future goals with current business reality. At Pendleton Street Business Advisors, he lends his analytical gifts and thoughtful processes to all aspects of clients’ personal and company finances. As the firm’s Chief Investment Officer, his responsibilities include business analysis, investment research, and coordinating work-product for client engagements.
Prior to co-founding Pendleton Street Business Advisors with John Barnes in 2013, Matt served as the Chief Investment Officer of WHM Capital Advisors, LLC. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he is a Certified Valuation Analyst, Certified Exit Planning Advisor, and he has completed the FINRA Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser Law Exam in order to register as an investment adviser representative.
Wayne’s philosophy is that relationships and behavioral dynamics are equally as important as the technical aspects of managing businesses, navigating through transactions and financial planning. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (Honors College), where he also earned an MBA. He began his career in 1999 at Arthur Andersen, LLC in public accounting. Most recently, he was a vice president at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 15 years and held roles in Corporate Development, Mergers & Acquisitions and corporate finance and accounting. In these roles, Wayne gained valuable expertise working on buyer side acquisitions within the insurance, technology and health sectors while using business valuation, consulting and planning skills. He is a licensed CPA, licensed investment advisor and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in professional counseling at Liberty University. His counseling specialization is in organizational and family systems as well as life transitions.

Savannah keeps the Pendleton Street ship afloat. Whether auditing files and executing directives from our internal team or going the extra mile to ensure clients are well taken care of, she’s handled an array of administrative and operational duties at Pendleton Street Business Advisors since August 2013. Savannah is a 2010 alumna of the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration.

Emily’s forte is handling anything that comes her way. As a client service associate of Pendleton Street Business Advisors, she manages our wide-ranging administrative needs with attentive and exacting detail. This seasoned office manager stays busy after-hours as well. A full-time USC Aiken student, she is taking both online and night classes in pursuit of a business management degree — a task she intends to check off her to-do list in 2018.
